Chiropractic is perhaps the most common and egregious example of the bait and switch in medicine...I hope that this helps to understand the sillyness of some of these kinds of modalities. I have another quick article for you if you have time. The subject is vitamins! I can't remember a time that my parents (Hi Mom) weren't telling me to "take your vitamins" and they had every reason to tell me to. I even vaugly remember a time when my parents got involved with this suppliment scam (looking back on it of course is why I call it a scam). At some point, I believe it was in the 60's, vitamins became this huge thing to keep us young and healthy. Well unfortunatly thats all B.S. and I've known it for some time now... Taking vitamin and mineral suppliments doesn't help AT ALL, unless of course you have some sort of genetic problem or lack of a specific vitamin. The only example that I can think of where a "suppliment" is helpful is floride... and guess what thats taken care of! Anyway I highly encourage you to check it out for yourself because taking vitamins actually can be more harmfull than helpfull. I would encourage you to start here at this article.
...Using techniques like massage, range of motion exercises, strength-building exercises, and mobilization of joints are all legitimate science-based techniques used by physical therapists and physicians with specialties in physiatry, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Some chiropractors also use similar techniques -and with good results. But by doing so and calling it “chiropractic” it legitimizes the pseudoscientific practices that are very common within the profession - like treating non-existent “subluxations” in order to free up the flow of innate intelligence.

Bait and Switch
Ok so you all know by now that I don't trust "alternative medicine" AT ALL! I will continue to make posts that talk about such things. I do it because I know so many people that are/have been fooled by these things (myself included) and don't get the proper care necessary. This is a fairly helpful article that explains why these kinds of practices aren't worth while even though they have the apperence of being so. Here is a quick excerpt:
